The Sett Keeper is a handmade wire badger sculpture, created from mixed copper and black annealed wire by Shropshire-based artist Luke Western.
Freestanding and full of character, each piece is made to order, with subtle variations in shape, stance and expression that make every badger unique. The open wire form gives the sculpture a light, sketch-like quality, almost like a drawing lifted from the page and shaped into something wild.
Inspired by one of Britain’s most recognisable woodland mammals, The Sett Keeper captures the quiet, grounded presence of a badger in wire. It is designed as a distinctive piece of handmade wildlife art for shelves, mantels, windowsills, studios, garden rooms or nature-loving homes.
The sculpture is left unvarnished, allowing the materials to age naturally over time. Indoors, it will develop gently. Outdoors, it will weather more quickly, adding patina, texture and character as the elements leave their mark.
Handmade to order in Shropshire.
