A short note from the studio (1 minute read)
Hello,
I’m Luke.
I like birds because of the headspace they bring.
To really see them, you have to be outside.
To notice them, you have to put your phone away.
And to hear them, you can’t have anything else playing.
No headphones.
No background noise.
Just eyes and ears open.
That’s a rare thing now.
Birds pull you back into what’s actually happening around you.
You start listening for the next song without realising you’ve slowed down.
And you don’t have to go anywhere special.
You don’t need a ticket or a weekend away.
They’re already here.
In gardens.
On streets.
In fields.
On walks you already take.
The more you watch, the more you notice.
Different personalities.
Different sounds.
Different habits.
They start to feel familiar.
I draw birds because they’ve come to represent that space for me.
That feeling at the start of the weekend.
When things ease off a little.
Since 2006 I've been running a campaign called Art for All. It's something I put together something to share that feeling.
It’s my way of giving something back.
Of keeping the work open, accessible, and out in the world.
A little colour for your walls, with characterful birds from around the world.
