A short note from the studio (1 minute read)
Hello,
I’m Luke.
I like birds because of the headspace they bring.
To really see them you have to be outside. To notice them properly you usually have to put your phone away. And if you want to hear them, you can’t have anything else playing in the background.
That kind of attention is quite rare now.
Birds have a way of pulling you back into what’s actually happening around you. You start listening for the next song without even realising you’ve slowed down.
The nice thing is you don’t have to go anywhere special.
You don’t need a ticket or a weekend away. They’re already here.
In gardens, on streets, in fields, and on the same walks you probably take anyway.
The more you watch, the more you notice. Some birds are bold, some are cautious, and some seem to behave like they run the whole garden. They all have their own sounds and their own little habits.
After a while they start to feel familiar.
I draw birds because they’ve come to represent that space for me. That moment at the start of the weekend when things ease off a little and you finally feel like you can breathe again.
Since 2006 I’ve been running something called Art for All. It’s simply my way of sharing that feeling through the work and keeping it open and accessible.
The idea is straightforward: colourful bird artwork that people can live with and enjoy every day.

Each year I offer a small sample print so people can see the work in person.
This year you can choose either a Goldfinch or a Lapwing.
I only ask that you cover the postage (£4.50). I’ll take care of the rest.

Each one contains 12 geometric bird prints, chosen at random from a collection of more than 100 designs. They include garden birds, waders, birds of prey, and a few others from further afield.
