Like Tom Daley, Kingfisher stands poised, ready to dive when given the signal…and when he goes, it’s full speed into the water, to catch another fish…it’s a full-time job. To keep the family well-fed, Kingfisher need to catch and astonishing 120 fish per day!
When it’s time to relax after a busy day of fishing. Kingfisher's all about that waterfront lifestyle, carving nests into sandy riverbanks. These nests are like the bird equivalent of a cozy beachfront cottage, complete with a baby-proof design to keep their precious eggs safe.
The problem is, with so may chicks around and so much fishing to do, Kingfishers nest becomes pretty undesirable, littered with droppings, pellets and fish bones.
Once the kids have fledged, the parents only feed them for four days, before forcing them out of town. That’s ruthless parenting!
